Educating our students today will lead to a better tomorrow
BeachPatrol regularly visits primary and secondary schools. We host educational sessions focussing on plastic litter and its impact on the environment and marine life
We can also take students out on a beach or street litter survey experience. During these exercises the students work in small groups along the beach or street to record the litter count and type using BeachPatrol survey sheets.
At the end of the survey the sheets are collated and the students spend time categorising and documenting the litter picked up in that session. This provides a great opportunity for raising awareness and helps inform how to cut back on common problem waste items.

We started the lesson off with discussing our findings on the beach this past summer. Then went out to a beach for a collection and survey. Their art work is to be displayed at a local art display representing several schools from the area, from St Kilda to Port Melbourne. |

| 09 Feb 2017 | Albert Park Primary | Grade 6 | 63 | We took the students out in groups of 6-8 each with a BeachPatrol leader and performed a short beach litter collection and survey. Afterwards we combined all the individual groups results to one sheet to total all the items in each category. Along with the total weight of rubbish collected. Then discussed this with the students. |

We thn took the students out on to a beach and performed a litter survey, counting and categorising the items in to 14 categories. From this more common plastic items could be identified. |

BeachPatrol joined Fam of the Ecocentre to teach the girls about the basics of plastic production and the environmental problems of plastics. |
