Amazing what a group can collect in an hour - and from a beach that had recently been cleaned by council machines. Over 500 pieces of plastic litter and over 100 pieces of broken glass, as well as tissues, socks, a bandage and hair ties.
St Kilda's 🐧🐧🐧🐧 and other marine creatures are grateful for the volunteer efforts of Satterley. Business groups make a great add-on to our community volunteer efforts. Thank you Satterley.

New Beach, Port Melbourne greeted 14 volunteers from Littlepay for an hour clean and full audit of litter collected. The following items were collected off what appeared to be a 'clean beach': 560 small hard plastic fragments, 285 small soft plastic fragments, 95 large hard plastic fragments, 128 large soft plastic fragments, 145 nurdles and 135 food wrappers TOTAL PIECES REMOVED = 1773  A big thank you to the team for their efforts!

Many thanks to the 4 volunteers who helped clean litter from New Beach, Port Melbourne.  Although the rubbish collected didn't weiigh much, 1121 pieces were removed in the space of about an hour.  Of note, 396 small hard pieces of plastic, 281 nurdles and 138 microplastics were removed and won't be ingested by seabirds, fish or dolphins.  Great effort by three pairs of hands!  

An enthusiastic group came out to help clean and audit litter found on 2 Port Melbourne beaches today near Princes Pier.  After an hour, the group had collected 5663 pieces, including 1253 hard small (less than 50mm in size) plastic fragments and 1374 nurdles. Although these items are small, they are commonly ingested by fish, seabirds and other marine life; therefore, removing them from our beaches/environment is vitally important.  Thanks to the team from MacQuarie for their efforts!

Thanks to these volunteers from Gentrack who cleaned up a section of St Kilda beach. They removed over 1200 plastic items, plus lots of paper waste and tissues from this popular beach. Their efforts directly protect the Little Penguin colony and other sea creatures.

Most common items included food wrappers (242), small soft plastic fragments (167) and large soft plastic fragments (129) - if penguins use these in their burrows/nests, their eggs won't be kept warm and breeding will fail. Over 200 small and large hard plastic fragments were collected: if ingested, these can cause severe and painful internal injuries to sea birds or other creatures; potentially fatal.

Plastic straws and cutlery are still being collected, despite the ban in February. Hopefully fewer soon.

Once more, thank you to this company for giving volunteer time to help protect our environment.

An enthusiastic group of 13 helped clean New Beach and removed over 2045 pieces of litter including 457 nurdles, 362 small hard pieces of plastic and 158 food wrappers.  All of this in just over an hour from what appeared to be a 'clean beach' in Port Melbourne.  

These volunters collected 2129 peices of plastic off a Port Melbourne beach. Including 433 small bits of soft plastic, 168 large pieces of soft plastic, 424 bits of small hard plastic, 213 food wrappers, and 168 nurdles

14 volunteers spent, 50 minutes and performed a full audit of all the plastic pieces the found.   Overall they collected  2288 pieces incl 511 small hard, 443 small soft  & 170 nurdles

This group performed 2 cleans over 2 areas.  One in Port Melbourne and the other in South Melbourne.  In Port Melbourne over 45 mins they collected 96 items incl 67 bottle tops, 21 lollipop sticks & 3 plastic bottles.  On the South Melbourne Beach they counted 40 items incl 17 bottle tops & 8 straws

The mighty team of 11 collected 7 kgs of litter, counting:
