Ten trusty volunteers, including one who has not been previously, got to work removing rubbish from Elwood streets. All local beaches have been dreadfully impacted by litter that has washed into Port Phillip Bay, much of it dumped back onshore by high tides and winds. Sadly, even more will remain in the Bay. 😪🐟🐧🐬 However, our 16kg collection is now safely disposed of in bins. Key items: 15 drink bottles and cans; 17 plastic bottle tops; 16 single-use coffee cups and lids; 35 sauce sachets and fish; 340 cigarette butts Other items: a bollard base, a desktop folding table, a windscreen wiper, 3 batteries, a vape, a nasal inhaler, plastic strapping, a large chunk of polystyrene, an aluminium take-away pie dish and clothing.
