LOS 3030 Werribee

Love Our Street 3030 Werribee

Love Our Street aims to bring people together as a community to look after our environment, to keep our streets beautifully clean and stop litter getting into our creeks, canals, on to beach or in the ocean.

We meet on the 4th Sunday of the month 10.30am - 12noon.  Locations will be advised.

We aim to support the work of Beach Patrol by dealing with litter close to the source. Once a month, we meet at one of our local shopping streets or area of significant litter for a clean-up and a cuppa afterwards.

LOS 3030 Werribee Train Station carpark 22.7.18 by 3030@loveourstreet.com.au

Today we had 22 volunteers come along to help clean up the Werribee Train Station carpark and bus depot area. The weather was a sunny and pleasant 14 degrees. The trains were not operating today, and everyone forced to use replacement buses, so we were quite visible. We collected 44 shopping bags of rubbish weighing approx 50 kilos and 3 shopping trolleys were reported. Our combined haul included 178 bottles and cans and a whopping 6000+ cigarette butts. The site was teaming with butts, and we did make a difference, but we will return to this site next month, as there is still so much more to be done here.

LOS 3030 Inaugural clean 27.5.18 by 3030@loveourstreet.com.au

26 volunteers joined the inaugural litter clean up in Werribee city centre for LOS 3030. The litter was quite extensive around the cafes, food outlets, car parks and riverside. Much of the litter collected was single use plastics or food containers and cigarette butts. Larger items like chairs, hub caps and styrofoam boxes were also collected. An unusual piece of litter was an almost complete food processor and a passport! Overall we collected 125kgs.

LOS 3030 first clean up included two Wyndham City Councillors, several members from Beach Patrol 3030 and the Werribee River Association, Jill Sokol from Love Our Street 3184(and founder of Love Our Street) and many members from Transition Wyndham. It was a good team effort on a fine autumn morning.
