3941Tootgarook Beach Patrol

Tootgarook foreshore is a beautiful beach environment that houses many species of native flora and fauna vital for the ecosystem to survive. Being such a beautiful beach, it is frequently visited and more often than not, people do not take their rubbish home with them leaving countless harmful objects in this natural place. On any one visit it is likely you will see cigarette butts, alcohol containers, plastic bags and an assortment of lightweight litter.

If the rubbish is left there without being disposed of correctly then it poses risk to the native species that dwell in this area along with the sealife which is why it is important that attention be paid to this site as it will provide benefits to not only the wildlife but also beach goers who so frequently utilise the site. If you wish to participate our cleans are to be run every 4th Sunday of the month.     Just one hour can make a difference.

3941Tootgarook fourth clean March 17 by tootgarook3941@beachpatrol.com.au

For 'Clean Up Australia Day' We were blessed with a rather warm day and with the help of fresh faces and a total of 14 volunteers we were able to collect over 400 pieces of rubbish, a lot of which was able to be recycled. We're slowly starting to see an improvement and keep a look out, soon enough we might be adding bin stands in to further our cause. Thanks to those who came down and made the effort. We hope to see you at the next one.

3941Tootgarook sixth clean March 5 2017 by tootgarook3941@beachpatrol.com.au

We moved our regular 3rd Sunday of each month clean to March the 5th this time as it was 'Clean Up Australia Day'. We had 15 volunteers join us on a nice warm day and we collected lots of rubbish possibly left over from the recent summer rush. Among the rubbish was all sorts of expected and unexpected items such as plastic and glass containers but also unopened beverages and sport equipment as well as commercial building waste products.

Thank you to those who came down and helped us out! We hope to see you at the next one :)

3941Tootgarook five clean November 2016 by tootgarook3941@beachpatrol.com.au

This clean saw 10 of us brave the windy weather and collect mostly recyclable beverage containers. The main public use areas were also cleaner than usual like the bay view carpark and the BBQ. Thank you to those who came out! We hope to see you next time.
