3207 BeachPatrol

Helping to look after the Precious inner-city Port Melbourne beaches, 3207BeachPatrol conducts a clean along one of its 5 stretches of beach every month.

The bright blue tee shirts of the volunteers make for a colourful addition to the beaches once a month on Saturday mornings.   See BeachPatrol 3207 in action to save the local community here!

3207BeachPatrol Record Turnout by admin

We had 37 volunteers turnout to clean our beaches today.  With a big group we split into two groups and cleaned two of our beaches.  Both looked quite clean to start with but even cleaner afterwards.

6 new volunteers came along, a mix of Aussies, Kiwis, French.

84 bottles and cans were collected with approx. 50 kg of litter being picked up.

Melbourne Beaches Littered with Bottles and Cans by admin

After just one hot day a visit to the beach shows the state of our littering attitude and how bad we need a cash for containers scheme in place.

In approx. 100 m along the Port Melbourne beach today we picked up approx. 25 bottles and cans that had been left there from last night.  Other passers by were also disgusted.  One said "It's not that hard is it to take it home".

Ironically there are always enough littered plastic bags too to put the littered bottles in.

Bottles and Cans Pollute Port Melb Beaches by admin

The first clean of the year started off with a load of litter including a haul of cans and bottles.  With about 25 volunteers turning out in spite of a light drizzle at the start, we split into two groups to clean two beaches.  This made quite a difference as a lot more litter was collected.

The photo says it all.  A littered Australia
