Port Melbourne Beach is a mess by admin

35 volunteers turned up on Saturday to what looked like a clean First Point Beach.  From the edge of the Princes Pier at the south end of the beach it look very clean.  The whole beach is only about 300 m long and I was telling people to move on to the next beach once we'd finished this one.    Not quite so.  While the beach above the tide line was quite litter free the tide line and in the water was such a horrible mix of plastic film caught in weeds.

3207in BeaconCove by admin

Disgusted with the amount of floating plastic mini gyre in Beacon cove by the steps, Ross and Ramona donned their wetsuits and armed with a length of mesh to act as a net, swam out and around it to try to catch the flotsam and bring it back to the steps where it could be picked out and put in bags.

3207 I Can't Go For a Simple Walk Without Tripping Over Bottles by admin

Just trying to go for an innocent walk along the foreshore with out tripping over bottles and cans is hard to do these days.  Melbourne is so polluted and littered with empty drink bottles and cans.
