3198 BeachPatrol
The Seaford Foreshore Reserve is one of the few remaining substantial, continuous strands of natural coastal vegetation near Melbourne. Seaford is notable for this reserve, which divides the beach from Nepean Highway along the whole length of the suburb. This reserve was the site for an extensive dune restoration program undertaken by the Port Phillip Authority in 1972, under the title of the "Seaford Experimental Project". 


The program involved extensive areas of fencing, revegetation and the installation of walking tracks, seats, tables and shelters. The Seaford beach is a long stretch of beautiful beach and 3198Beachpatrol wants to keep it that way. We meet once a month to spend an hour cleaning litter off our beach, then go to a local café afterwards for a coffee and chat. We meet on Sunday mornings. We had 24 brilliant volunteers including 3 kids who removed a total of 11kgs off the beach.
9kgs of litter and 2kgs of CDS including 53 bottles/cans.

Notable: pollywaffle wrapper found - expiry said May 1989

I've only been with Beach Patrol for a year but today was the largest about of litter removed from the beach I have ever seen! We had 50 amazing volunteers (24 not in the photo) join us to help clean up our beaches! In total we picked up 68.6kgs including 95 bottles and cans. 51.8kgs of rubbish and 16.8kgs of recyclables!


25 people in photo + photographer = 26 volunteer hours 

24 people left between 10.40 and 11. approx 18 left with 15 minutes to go so subtract 15 minutes x 18 = 4.5 hours subtract 

4 left on 11 and 2 left half hour prior - so subtract another hour - 

- .75 for group leader who only got 15 minutes on the beach picking up litter = 43.75 volunteer hours

Thanks for attending the Clean Up Australia Day Clean at Seaford Pier March 2020
We had 24 wonderful volunteers who collected 26.5kgs total, 13kgs of recycling and 13.5kgs of litter, including 91 bottles and cans.


FC Council ute present at site when arrived at 8.30am from a distance appeared to have 4 orange bags in the back of ute


Site appeared a lot cleaner than have previous experienced.


A volunteer was noted to remark that it seemed as if someone had cleaned it up very recently. 

Last year in 2019 there a FCC representative collecting rubbish however I asked him for what he collected and he gave it to us so we could include it in our count. 

Lots of cigarette butts however, one amazing volunteer collected approximately 100 butts + on her clean 


A lot of the cans/bottles very old
