3198 BeachPatrol Covering the Seaford Beaches

3198 BeachPatrol
The Seaford Foreshore Reserve is one of the few remaining substantial, continuous strands of natural coastal vegetation near Melbourne. Seaford is notable for this reserve, which divides the beach from Nepean Highway along the whole length of the suburb. This reserve was the site for an extensive dune restoration program undertaken by the Port Phillip Authority in 1972, under the title of the "Seaford Experimental Project".

The program involved extensive areas of fencing, revegetation and the installation of walking tracks, seats, tables and shelters. The Seaford beach is a long stretch of beautiful beach and 3198Beachpatrol wants to keep it that way. We meet once a month to spend an hour cleaning litter off our beach, then go to a local café afterwards for a coffee and chat. We meet on Sunday mornings. 3198 November clean by 3198@beachpatrol.com.au
Thank you to everyone for joining us in November for our last 2015 clean. What a fantastic morning, we had a lot of public interest and were even joined by members of Dynamic Martial Arts, Blackburn who were down at the beach training.

Between 15 people we collected 5 bags of rubbish wieghing in at 7kg. We were focusing on nurdles and small plastic waste which is a real problem in the area near Keast Park with the outlet, the majority of the waste was straws, bottle caps, nurdles and cigarette butts.

There was an amazing feast afterwards with a picnic in the park. Well done everyone and thank you for coming along and a huge thank you to Juanita for all of your hard working in starting our 3198 Seaford Beach Patrol this year, you have done an amazing job bringing the community together, helping to keep our beaches clean and raising awareness.

Apologies for the delay on this post - my laptop has not been playing nice

We had 24 wonderful volunteers who collected 26.5kgs total, 13kgs of recycling and 13.5kgs of litter, including 91 bottles and cans.

FC Council ute present at site when arrived at 8.30am from a distance appeared to have 4 orange bags in the back of ute
