3195Parkdale BeachPatrol Covering the Parkdale Beaches

3195Parkdale BeachPatrol - Parkdale

3195Parkdale is a group of volunteers that meet up once a month on a Sunday morning at 10am, spending an hour picking up rubbish along the beach and foreshore. Our first clean up session took place in August 2014.

Regular beach visitors will notice that the beach is often littered with rubbish, particularly after heavy rains, when storm water brings street litter to the Bay. The task of cleaning this rubbish is more than Council can manage and that's where BeachPatrol comes in.

The structure of our clean ups is that we request volunteers arrive with their own gloves and we provide bags to collect the rubbish. We usually send the volunteers in both directions from the meeting point. Each person then spends 45 minutes collecting rubbish before heading back to the meeting point where we take photo of all the volunteers attending and the rubbish collected. Lastly we weigh each bag collected to determine the total of our haul before placing it into nearby council provided rubbish and recycle bins.

Our fabulous volunteers are community minded locals who share a passion for keeping our beaches clean for everyone to enjoy. We encourage volunteers to become regulars but understand everyone is time poor. That's why 1 hour is the perfect amount of time. Come on down to our next clean up, bring the kids and get them involved. Tell your friends and help spread the word. You can also find us on Facebook. See you at the next clean up!

Parkdale May '18 Clean Up by parkdale3195@beachpatrol.com.au

Our May clean up was mind blowing. On a beautiful autumn day we had one of our best volunteer turn outs. Great to see so many civic minded locals of all ages getting involved. Together we removed 48.5 kg of rubbish off Parkdale Beach. The only downer is the continual heavy presence of cigarette butt litter. A BIG thank you to all that turned up.

Parkdale Apr '18 Clean Up by parkdale3195@beachpatrol.com.au

Cracking day for our April clean up on Parkdale beach. We had a good turn of 20 volunteers including some new starters. Always great to add some new faces to our growing list of regulars. In 1 hour we managed to collect 38 kg and of rubbish and recycling from the foreshore which included 2 big bags of cigarette butts.

Already looking forward to our May Clean up, especially if this awesome weather hangs around.

Parkdale Mar '18 Clean Up by parkdale3195@beachpatrol.com.au

Happy Clean Up Australia Day #CUAD Parkdale! We had 25 volunteers out in force collecting 18kg of rubbish that consisted of cigarette butts and small plastic waste. We also had our biggest haul of balls. Must be some sad dogs or people went for 6 and out in beach cricket.
Great to see a few new faces today and faithful regulars. Special shout out to Narelle Derix for her amazing CUAD cake. It tasted as good as it looked.
