3194BeachPatrol Covering the Mentone Beaches

3194 BeachPatrol

3194 BeachPatrol looks after the picturesque beaches of Mentone.

Mentone beach is at the northern most end of a 20km stretch of open beach that ends at Frankston. The beach is backed by cliffs which were the subject of many famous paintings in the early 1900s. Access to the beach is via steps and a ramp from car parks off Beach Road. The beach is popular with locals and visitors alike especially in summer where dogs are able to be walked on leash.

3194 BeachPatrol was launched in early April 2014. The local residents and members of the  lifesaving club and surrounding school communities have banded together to help create a cleaner, safer beach for all to enjoy.

The three lengths of beach that 3194BeachPatrol cleans are 1) Charman Road to Kitchner Street car park, 2) Kitchener street car park to Mentone Hotel, 3) Mentone Hotel to Warrigal Road

3194 mentone beach patrol november wrap by 3194@beachpatrol.com.au

After a stormy few days you're never quite sure how the beach will be and today was deceptive as there was lots of seaweed

and for the most part not that much rubbish. But just past the stormwater pier there was heaps.

The normal plastic wrappings and lots of aluminium and plastic bottles. At the city side of the beach a smashed up couch was found on the rocks.

Today we had 5 volunteers who collected 56.1 kgs of rubbish including 137 bottles and cans which is 50.7 kgs of rubbish plus 137 bottles and cans.

At the end of the clean up we relaxed at the local cafe over the road.

Well done team.

3194 Mentone Beach Patrol March Wrap by 3194@beachpatrol.com.au
A nice March morning to be down at the beach at Mentone.
There was a fair amount of seaweed washed ashore which also meant there was a lot of plastic pieces mixed in with it. The good thing is we are helping to create an awareness about the plastic problem we as a community have created by logging our rubbish data counts. This month we had 6 volunteers who picked up 7 bags of rubbish weighing 16.4 kgs indluding 9 bottles and cans, thanks Paul.
