3194BeachPatrol Covering the Mentone Beaches

3194 BeachPatrol

3194 BeachPatrol looks after the picturesque beaches of Mentone.

Mentone beach is at the northern most end of a 20km stretch of open beach that ends at Frankston. The beach is backed by cliffs which were the subject of many famous paintings in the early 1900s. Access to the beach is via steps and a ramp from car parks off Beach Road. The beach is popular with locals and visitors alike especially in summer where dogs are able to be walked on leash.

3194 BeachPatrol was launched in early April 2014. The local residents and members of the  lifesaving club and surrounding school communities have banded together to help create a cleaner, safer beach for all to enjoy.

The three lengths of beach that 3194BeachPatrol cleans are 1) Charman Road to Kitchner Street car park, 2) Kitchener street car park to Mentone Hotel, 3) Mentone Hotel to Warrigal Road

3194 Mentone Beach Patrol December Wrap by 3194@beachpatrol.com.au

With Christmas around the corner and a different starting time
we only had 4 volunteers this month but we collected 9 bags of rubbish weighing 26.2 kgs including 52 bottles and cans.
Overall we had a good year with many new faces joining in.
There is no real sign that the litter problem is reducing yet but we are definitely helping to point out the problem and at the same time reducing the harm.
Thanks everyone at Mentone Beach Patrol.
Have a great Christmas,
Paul.

3194 Mentone Beach Patrol November Wrap by 3194@beachpatrol.com.au

A nice relaxing day down at Mentone Beach today with 13 volunteers on the hunt for rubbish. The beach was pretty clear of rubbish with the majority of it being collected from around the vegetation. This thick vegetation does a great job in stopping the litter before it gets to the beach. It's still dissapointing to find large amounts of rubbish each month
but at least there is more discussion now on how to improve things.
Today we collected 10 bags of rubbish weighing 33.7 kgs including 60 bottles and cans.
thanks everyone,
Paul

3194 Mentone Beach Patrol October Wrap by 3194@beachpatrol.com.au

We are now consistently getting good numbers for our Beach Patrols which is great and the beach seems to have less rubbish which hopefully is a sign that not only are we good at picking up rubbish but that less rubbish is actually being dropped.
Yesterday we had 10 volunteers and we picked up 5 bags of rubbish weighing 24.1kgs which included 52 bottles & cans.
Thanks everyone,
Paul.

3194 Mentone Beach Patrol March Wrap by 3194@beachpatrol.com.au
A nice March morning to be down at the beach at Mentone.
There was a fair amount of seaweed washed ashore which also meant there was a lot of plastic pieces mixed in with it. The good thing is we are helping to create an awareness about the plastic problem we as a community have created by logging our rubbish data counts. This month we had 6 volunteers who picked up 7 bags of rubbish weighing 16.4 kgs indluding 9 bottles and cans, thanks Paul.
