3188 BeachPatrol - Hampton

 

Hampton beach is a long beach covering from Green Point in the North to the Sanding ham Yacht club on the southern end. Come and join fellow community members of Hampton to maintain our beautiful beach. We meet once a month for one hour then go for a coffee and chat afterwards. A great way to meet like minded people.

3188 Beach Clean December 2019 by 3188@beachpatrol.com.au

Celebrating another year to finish 2019 with Hampton Beach Patrol's Christmas party at the coffee shop on Jetty Road. Volunteers who attended were given a small gift to say Thank you for their efforts. It was a very cold and windy day, and winter coats were required. A hot drink was required to warm our hands which was warmly welcomed. Hampton Beach patrol group headed back to the Dog Beach next to the Sandringham Yacht club  9.1kgs of rubbish was collected: 10 recyclables and no syringes. Thanks to the 10 volunteers who were able to come along to help keep our beaches clean. This month Hampton Beach Patrol welcomed one new member.

Green Point carpark area was our destination for our November clean. It was a very cloudy morning but the rain held off. 39.6kgs of rubbish collected; 113 recyclables and 1 syringe. A big Thank you to the 10 volunteers who were able to come along to help keep our beaches clean. Most interesting item found for the November clean was a Halloween Skull decoration.  This month we welcomed 3 new enthusiastic members to the team. 

Our Next Clean will be on Sunday the 1st of December 2019, starting at 9 am till 10 am. We will be heading back to the "Dog Beach" (Jetty Road) and celebrating Hampton Beach Patrol Christmas Party- Coffee at the Cafe afterwards, all welcome to come and join the fun.

Small Street beach area was our destination for our October clean. It was a beautiful sunny morning to celebrate Hampton Beach Patrol running for 5 years, with lots seaweed along the tide line.  16.5kgs of rubbish was collected: 56 recyclables and 1 syringe. Thanks to the 25 volunteers who were able to come along to help keep our beaches clean. This month Hampton Beach Patrol welcomed 5 new members. All members enjoyed home made Gluten free Chocolate Cake after a hard hour of cleaning.

Small Street beach area was our destination for our February clean. It was a beautiful sunny morning but quite windy, with lots of broken plastic along the tide line.  24.75kgs of rubbish collected: 55 recyclables collected and 1 syringe. Thanks to the 17 volunteers who were able to come along to help keep our beaches clean for our wildlife. This month we had 1 new member come an join the team, who has offered to launch an Instagram account for the Hampton Beach Patrol group.. Keep your eyes open if you are connected to Instagram and ensure to follow.

Odd items found: 

One pair of high leather boots, one lamp, one kitchen knife and two bongs. 

 

Hampton Beach Patrol are joining with Bayside Council and Friends of Bayside Road for Australia Day clean up at Green Point on Sunday the 1st of March commencing at 9am. See details below:

 

Join us at Green Point, Brighton for Clean Up Australia Day, Sunday 1 March.

Partnering with Hampton Beach PatrolLove Our Street Hampton and Friends of Bayside Roads, we will be cleaning up the beaches either side of the Green Point car park, including the parkland and along the cliff top.

Bring along a pair of gloves, a hat and a drink bottle and join in the movement to clean up Australia! 

Following the litter picking, join us for some light morning tea.

You will have the opportunity to learn about volunteering options in Bayside and discuss with Bayside City Council staff, our sustainability and waste initiatives and learn about what we are doing to address the environmental problems facing our community.

All recyclable items will be counted and the rubbish will be weighed and sorted at the end of the collection. Everyone is encouraged to participate in the audit.

Remember: Public transport to the site is encouraged and is a short walk from Brighton Beach Station. Car parking is free for those who hold a Foreshore Parking Permit

This is an all ages and abilities clean up event.
