3182 Beach Patrol looks after the St Kilda Beaches, from Fraser Street to St Kilda Marina. These are some of the busiest beaches on Port Phillip Bay and capture a lot of litter from the Yarra River and large drains that empty onto the beach and due to the presence of the Harbour and Marina. If you live in 3182 or just love St Kilda beach and want to meet some enthusiastic like minded people who care for the beach and bay then contact the 3182 Beach Patrol and join us on our monthly beach cleans, at 9am on the second Saturday of each month. We clean a given section of the beach for an hour and then have a well earned coffee at one of the beach side cafes. Bring your own gloves, collection bags and litter pickers are provided but by all means bring your own. Visit and like us on Facebook too!
There were 34 of us and we collected 67kg of litter - despite the beach being cleaned just before we started!
This a strong start to the year and we will surely pick up another tonne of litter (unfortunately!).
Graham as usual took lots of pics which you can see here
Thanks to all 26 of you that turned up today, an amazing turn out given the terrible weather! We had some new beach patrollers join us today and I am very pleased to welcome you to our group.
We collected 101kg litter (two wheelie bins worth!), which is an incredible haul, bringing our total to 919kg after 10 beach patrols, we should reach our one tonne target on our next beach patrol!
I look forward to seeing you at our next beach patrol on Saturday, 14 December meeting at the Marine Reserve Car Park with a Xmas BBQ afterwards (more details will follow).
