3182 Beach Patrol looks after the St Kilda Beaches, from Fraser Street to St Kilda Marina. These are some of the busiest beaches on Port Phillip Bay and capture a lot of litter from the Yarra River and large drains that empty onto the beach and due to the presence of the Harbour and Marina. If you live in 3182 or just love St Kilda beach and want to meet some enthusiastic like minded people who care for the beach and bay then contact the 3182 Beach Patrol and join us on our monthly beach cleans, at 9am on the second Saturday of each month. We clean a given section of the beach for an hour and then have a well earned coffee at one of the beach side cafes. Bring your own gloves, collection bags and litter pickers are provided but by all means bring your own. Visit and like us on Facebook too!
Despite the heavy rain beforehand twenty two 3182 Beach Patrollers braved the elements to clean up the St Kilda West beach.
We were rewarded with a break in the rain and collected 80kg of litter, plus one bicycle.
We continued our practise of collecting cigarette butts separately to send to Terracycle for recycling and found far less than on our last clean up of the St Kilda main beach.
We were visited by MOOP (Matter Out Of Place) Patrol who came long to film Guy Boston (our founder) and us for a video they were making about Beach Patrol.
3182 Beach Patrol had 32 volunteers that collected 63kg of litter, including over 6000 cigarette butts, for our April 2014 clean up of St KIlda Beach.
A big thanks to the 38 of you that turned up for Clean Up Australia Day at St Kilda South beach! It was great to welcome lots of new faces that joined us especially for Clean Up Australia Day.
We collected 128kg of litter, bringing our total for the year to 257kg, a massive haul!
It was great to have a bit of fun at the end performing for the St Kilda video that will be added to http://www.wearehappyfrom.com.
