We collected 4kg of rubbish, 325 cigarette butts, 8 bottles and 2 syringes.  There was a huge amount of small plastic pieces beneath the Red Bluff Cliffs, which a few of us spent most of the hour cleaning.  These small pieces of course originate from larger plastic items which have broken down over time and made their way to our beautiful little beach.

What a terrible, horrible, no-good day!  A very small group of intrepid beach patrollers somewhat stupidly (ignoring a grim weather report) arrived for the final clean up of the year.  Within 15 mins we were all totally saturated, huddled under the stairs of the Life Saving Club with not much to show for it!

It was cold, drizzly and we were contemplating leaving, when the sun emerged to lift our spirits and keep us on the job!  Dedicated 'rain or shine' members picked up 8 bottles/cans and 8 kg of rubbish. Thank you!

A cold morning for Beach Patrol!  Where is everyone?  At home, warm in bed?  We envied you momentarily!  Thank you to Kim and Sam and their two young kids for braving the elements and joining us on a cold morning on Sandringham Beach! They did a great job pulling out rubbish from the groyne.  The yo-yo fishermen have been busy pulling up on their rods while pushing down with their rubbish - in between the rocks - lots and lots of it.  More there for another day.  Despite the weather we felt satisfied and energised!  See you next time!

Thank you to everyone who supported Clean Up Australia Day earlier this month.  It was great to see so many locals, both in our group, and all along the foreshore, caring for our beautiful environment.  A huge amount of rubbish was collected, particularly from the Southey St groyne.  There were bottles, cans, plastic bags, fishing line and confectionary packets stuffed in between the rocks:

 45kg of rubbish

 150 bottles/cans

 250 cigarettes
