A small but effective turn out with 8 people cleaning up 15kgs of litter on a very sunny day. We had our new Coordinator Cathy, backed up by her son Simon taking in all the details like champs and getting on with things. Hopefully next time around we'll see the usual 25+ people turn up.

Excellent haul and turnout today. With 26 wonderful volunteers we collected 56(!!) kilos of rubbish and at least 100 containers and botttles and 1,200 cigarette butts. Thanks everyone!

We were hoping to have a new coordinator start, but that didn’t happen, so now we’re looking for a new coordinator again. Feel free to get in touch, we’ve got everything sorted for a smooth hand over.

Talks with council about a storage location are in the final stages and we’re still trying to get used to the new and more restrictive recycling scheme.

19kgs of litter and 600 cigarette butts in one hour with only 13 litter enthusiasts on a Sunday afternoon, we call that a win! A few of the regulars and a few first timers got the job done and then some.

It's very clear summer has started again with the bins overflowing, people forgetting that we have only one planet and family fun bbqs turning into litter fests without intent.

The job is not yet done, but it is for coordinators Yumi and Gilbert, so if you feel that you can help coordinate (one of the) new litter pick Sundays for 2020, get in touch any time.

Thanks to all who attended, we might have been small in numbers, but we were big in results!

Another clean up done for October thanks to 30 big and small volunteers. We had a slightly smaller catch in kilos, but all those plastic wrappers make a big mess, even if they weigh next to nothing! We also found 1,750 cigarette butts and close to 50 containers (bottle and cans). Well done all!

Our next 3018 Altona cleanup will be on Sunday 10 November, so if you feel like joining in, come find us from 3-4pm on the corner of Pier Street and Esplanade.

We had a massive turn-out on the first day of Spring with lots of helpers from Geocaching of Victoria and Altona Primary. 58 volunteer altogether managed a respectable 25kgs of rubbish and a record-breaking 4,000 cigarette butts. It was clean when we started, but pristine when we left. 55 minutes of good weather and 5 minutes of blisterting rain andh ail at the end saw us beat a hasty retreat. This hadn't happened for 13 cleans in a row, so we can hardly complain about a great community effort once more.

We made the most of the sunny weather and 20 volunteers who came and helped out to collect 45 containers, 10kgs of rubbish and 1,000 cigarette butts. It wa s good to see that the streets and beach were clean. Maybe it's because it Winter, but we like to think it's because people are becoming better at throwing rubbish in the bin.
