3205BeachPatrol had its inaugural beach clean on Saturday. July may not be the best time to plan an outdoor activity, but the beach pollution is not sensitive to the weather.
19 volunteers gathered on this chilly winter morning to clean the beach from Kerferd Pier to South Melb Life saving club. The recent higher winds had caused a lot of broken up plastic to be washed way up on to the beach. Lots and lots of small coin sized bits of plastic.
Another 5 syringes were collected, some with needles.
In spite of the cold a successful launch was achieved. Followed by warm hot chocolates and coffees at the Nshry café.
