The weather gods smiled on us and “parted the waters”
(rain) for a fine and mild time as over 30 beach patrollers hit the First
We assembled adjacent the Princes Pier and welcomed new members
into the ranks.
Most 3207 beach patrollers combed the beach finding only a small
load of litter each. This is good news! But still the old ubiquitous fragments of plastic.
A half a dozen braved the subterranean expanse to go under the Princes
Pier, collecting a heavy haul of mostly plastic, but including a Barbie doll and
two fire extinguishers. whilst this litter is ‘out of sight”, it can get
recycled on to the beaches in the next storm.
All up our group collected some 100kgs of litter.
Fortuitously, the garbage truck contractor came along as we finished and all the stuff went
into the dumpster.
An enjoyable coffee and chat after was enjoyed by all at the Platform Café.
