Rosebud/McCrae's 4th Beach Clean
sunny day for our beach clean up, 8 new volunteers came along and together we collected 60kg of rubbish. DVD's & CD's were the theme of todays clean.

Rosebud/McCrae's 3rd Beach Clean
Despite this months beach clean falling on the Labour Day long weekend, 9 volunteers turned up with 1 new member joining in.

Rosebud/McCrae's 2nd Beach clean
Despite the initial impression of a very clean beach at McCrae, we collected 88kg of rubbish with fireworks being the theme of the day. 8 new volunteers joined us today.

We had 46 people participate, collecting 44.5kgs of litter and rubbish and no less than 800 cigarette butts.

Rosebud/McCrae's 1st Beach Clean
We had perfect weather for our first beach clean in Rosebud with 21 volunteers turning up to help. After bottle/cans, beach tent parts and camping equipment was the theme of the day which is no surprise being the middle of January.

Sandringham March clean up
Thanks to our little group, today we picked up 7kg of rubbish, including 8 bottles/cans and 110 cigarette butts.

Sandringham April Clean Up!
A great turn-out on a beautiful morning!  We collected 21kg of rubbish, 36 bottles and cans and 126 cigarette butts! YUK.  We also cleared out a lot of rubbish from between the rocks in the groyne.  Obviously from fishermen who, despite appreciating and taking from the beautiful bay, think that it's ok to wedge their fishing bait bags, fishing line, cans, containers and plastic bags into the rocks.

This month the beach seemed to be covered in endless little pieces of plastic, the real nasty stuff that is so bad for the marine environment. The sea life and the birds can thank us for removing more than 27kg of it off the beach. That is almost 1kg of micro litter per volunteer. It was so bad that most people found it hard to stop at the end of the clean up. This is a reminder that the contents of the urban streets end up on our beach after stormy weather.
