Entries for December 2016

The final Elwood beach clean of 2016 took place last Saturday and was followed by a very enjoyable morning tea.  It was a pleasure to take the time to have a coffee together and to wish each other a Merry Christmas!  We look forward to another great year ahead, with the next clean up taking place on 21 January at 9 am.

oday we had a great pre Christmas turnout with 10 volunteers eager to make a difference to our great Mentone Beach.

We collected 18 bags of rubbish weighing a hefty 99.9 kgs including 111 bottles and cans.

To finish off the year we gathered for a coffee & a chat at the cafe accross the road.

A nice little gathering of such nice people.

Thanks Mentone Beach Patrollers,

Paul.

3199 Frankston Beach Patrol December 2016 Clean Up

I am so very very proud of the amazing network of volunteers and sponsors we have at 3199 Frankston Beach Patrol and as a resident, I have to say despite my involvement, it is really reassuring to know that our community has such passion and commitment such as what I saw today - 35 volunteers, 11 businesses and 1 local Government all combining to help remove 73Kgs of litter from Frankston's main foreshore. On top of that, we were also honoured to be allowed to use Coast Guard Frankston's VF1 HQ to host our Christmas BBQ and even more lucky  to have a number of Coast Guard volunteers give up their time to prepare and cook the food for us. This is the greatest showing of a community working together for a much greater cause and I feel I am so lucky and fortunate to be a part of this wonderful City that is Frankston.

3030 Beach Patrol/Werribee River Association joined forces with the staff of Holcim Werribee for a Corporate Clean Up Day on Fri December 9th.  The site of the clean up was the Werribee River just upstream of the town centre at Prouse Place. The amount of rubbish retrieved from the river is quite disturbing. The mammoth haul included
793 bottles and cans, 405 plastic bags, 559 food packaging items, 4.5 shopping trolleys, 3 bikes, a sofa, plus a myriad other things.  A total mass of 1250kgs
