Luckily the rain held and five volunteers came to target the area around Glen Waverley Secondary College and the train station. We picked up a total of 7kg of litter, including 14 container deposit scheme bottles and cans and 2750 cigarette butts. Around 1750 of these came from the station, and many had obviously been there for some time as they had degraded and were easily mistaken for wood chips in the garden beds. A couple of abandoned trollies were reported via the Snap Sen Solve app, including one from Southern Cross Station!

LOS3150 joined forces with the Friends of the Children Foundation for their Clean Up Australia Day Event, held at Warrawee Park in Oakleigh.

Eleven volunteers helped clean streets around the park and the train station which was heavily littered with cigarette butts - we collected a total of 4500!!  The BBQ/play area at the park was littered with many beer bottles that a member of the public had cleaned up just prior so his children could play in a clean environment and unfortunately were not part of our data.

The inaugural clean for Love Our Street 3150 was on a hot January morning, supported by 17 wonderful volunteers. We cleaned the streets around Bogong Avenue and Myrtle Street (around the area behind Kingsway and next to the Centrelink office). We had some interest and support from passers-by which was encouraging. A big thank you to Jill for coming out and supporting us on the day and for all her patient help in getting us this far!

We collected 4.65kg of general litter plus 56 bottles and cans that could have been returned via a container deposit scheme and 1000 cigarette butts, many of which were in the garden beds.
