t was great to have such a large group of volunteers and lots of new members at our clean today. This was our final clean for 2018 and the smallest by quantity of waste collected.  Because of the restricted access to this area there is not a lot of rubbish but we still managed to .remove 85 bottles & cans, 50kg of general rubbish,35 pieces of rope from shell fish industry, 70 kg metal, tin & wood, 100 metres irrigation piping, clothes and shoes.

LOS 3185 & 3183 Ripponlea Community Clean Up November 2018

A long weekend for some, but our dedicated crew focussed attention on the Ripponlea Station Reserve, west side of station. Not much by weight collected, but over 1600 cigarette butts removed from paths, gardens and lawns. That's 1600+ individual acts of littering - unspeakably ignorant of the damage these plastic items can cause if they get into the sea, and the toxins are reported to kill beneficial soil bacteria. Any wonder the gardens are struggling!.

Our community is cleaner now - thank you.

LOS 3184 Elwood Community Clean November 2018
Lovely Spring day with some of our regulars away. Our team put in 13 hours overall, focussing our efforts around Elwood West shops, St Columba's church and school. Membbers also used the app "Snap Send Solve" to report dumped rubbish. We celebrated our birthday again, so members who couldn't attend last time got a slice of cake and others enjoyed a second bite!

Great to also welcome two people who are planning to launch LOS 3150 Glen Waverley. Our family grows with this the fifth new group: four others with dates already set in November & December. See home page.
